It’s hard to believe it’s only been a week since the fitness test. I thought I’d post a quick update each weekend on what we’ve done.
Monday was straight into Track Attack. It’s been a few months since I did one of these classes and a lot longer since I did it regularly, so it was a bit of shock to the system. Wednesday was a different story. We upped the tempo and I really felt like I had achieved something by the end of the third circuit.
On Friday the UL Sports Arena was taken over by the Mid West Bridal Fair so the only option for us was to use the track. This gave us the opportunity to try the alternative Track Attack (the Tuesday and Thursday class). This session is more weights based than the Monday/Wednesday sessions which are more Cardio. I don’t get to do this session very often, so it was a nice change of pace.
We have a good group taking on the challenge this year. I have a lot of admiration for anyone who shows up, no matter what their fitness level is. I had a good conversation with one of the other men about the importance of setting a goal. Mine is obviously Kilimanjaro while he’s aiming to cycle from Limerick to Dingle and back in the space of a weekend.
I also managed to fit in the Operation Transformation 5k walk along the River Bank this morning. Next week we have our usual Monday and Wednesday sessions and (I believe) a boxing session on the Friday. Roll on week 2
